Cozy sims for winding down at the end of the day
Not every game needs to test your reflexes. Some of the best ones just ask you to tend to something — a farm, a shop, an orchard drifting through space — and let the calm do the work. Cozy sims are the comfort food of mobile gaming.
Stellar Orchard is my current favourite in this space. Growing glowing fruit on asteroids and watching the solar cycles roll past is oddly soothing. There's depth if you want it, but never pressure.
The key to enjoying these games is to resist optimizing them into a chore. Check in when you feel like it, let plants grow, and don't turn a relaxing loop into a spreadsheet. The moment it feels like work, put it down.
In a genre crowded with games engineered to grab your attention, the cozy sim is refreshingly happy to let you go. That restraint is exactly why they stick around on my phone.
